Street Art Ink recently had the privilege of installing two large-scale mural artworks commissioned by Mullinavat Matters, a dedicated community group with a visionary partnership with their local GAA club. When Sarah from Mullinavat Matters reached out to us, Street Art Ink then assembled an artistic team to bring their vision to life. Sarah and Edel worked together over a couple of months to develop the initial concept based around biodiversity. Then they both met on site with local GAA members to develop the second wall concept being a practice target wall for hurlers. Once this was decided Juliette developed the concept into a sketch and then MJ painted the murals in July.

Our team created stunning murals that celebrate biodiversity and serve a practical purpose. On the longer wall an artwork was designed as a practice target to help local players develop and hone their hurling skills. Despite the unpredictable weather—rain, wind, and sunshine—MJ painted these two beautiful an colourful murals, which are now treasured parts of the community.

These murals have already become a beloved feature of the area, enriching the community space. The pitch where they are located has a rich history of bringing people together. Locals use the area daily to practice sports, stroll with friends and family along the pathway, and connect with their shared heritage. One gentleman even reminisced about his school days in the 1950s when he and his classmates would gather weekly to clear stones from the field that would eventually become this cherished pitch. We are delighted to be able to add this artwork to the community and become part of the story of the GAA pitch in Mullinavat.

Workshops Across the Country

At Street Art Ink, we’ve been bustling with activity, running workshops that ignite creativity and bring communities together. This summer we have seen a huge surge of interest in our workshops from groups of all ages, nationalities, and all types of setting. Here’s a glimpse into our recent adventures:

Our teens’ workshop at Oatfields Holiday Park was a roaring success. The young participants dove into the world of street art, designing stencils, learning various spray techniques, and creating two large-scale artworks on hoarding. Their masterpieces will be proudly displayed in the Holiday Park for years to come. The pride and excitement in the kids’ eyes as they saw their creations come to life were truly heartwarming. Big thanks to Mary and all the team at Oatfields for their visionary idea to engage the older teens group.

Vintage Picnic in Swords: Last week, we made a triumphant return to the Vintage Picnic in Swords, hosted by Age Friendly Fingal, with over 700 attendees this year! The event proved that graffiti art has no age limit. Participants of all ages enthusiastically created their art pieces, many eager to surprise their grandkids with unique gifts. The atmosphere was electric, filled with laughter and artistic expression.

Love2Learn Partnership: We’re thrilled to continue our workshops with Love2Learn, transforming a few initial sessions into a wonderful ongoing partnership. Through this collaboration, we teach stencil and spray skills to teens from all over Europe. The enthusiasm and talent these young artists bring to each workshop are inspiring, and we’re excited to keep fostering their creativity.

These workshops are more than just learning experiences; they’re celebrations of art, community, and fun. Each session leaves us inspired by the incredible creativity and energy of the participant and our workshops prove that language is not a barrier to accessing the arts.

• August 5th: Join us at the Rush Harbour Festival from 2-5pm. This weekend event promises unforgettable experiences that capture the dynamic energy of the harbour. We’ll be hosting family-friendly stencil workshops for all ages.
• August 17th: We’ll be back in Rush for the Let’s Play Rush Community Sports & Fun Day from 1-4pm. Come and enjoy a day filled with sports, fun, and creative activities for everyone.
